BAHRAIN BREAST CANCER SUPPORT GROUP
A warm welcome to our support group! The Bahrain Breast Cancer Support Group was set up nearly 6 years ago for ladies of all nationalities, who have ever had a breast cancer diagnosis. Joanne Lund, a survivor of 5 years, is now the organiser of this English speaking group.
MISSION STATEMENT
We are committed to the emotional support and encouragement in a caring environment to those who are experiencing the effects of breast cancer.
WHAT TO EXPECT
When joining any group you may feel a little uncomfortable to begin with. The fact that others are facing the same situation as you, may help you to open up and discuss your feelings. The basic format is a small group of friendly ladies who meet once a month, sometimes more.
WHY JOIN THE SUPPORT GROUP?
Probably the biggest advantage of any support group is speaking to ladies who have been through a similar experience and can provide support to one another. It helps you realise that you are not alone; this can be a huge relief. You may be more empowered or able to make choices and hopefully, feel you have more control over your situation. You can ask questions from others about what to expect during or after treatment and other timely issues. Those of us in the group have found courage and support from others as they’ve
experienced the different stages of treatment.
WHEN AND WHERE DO WE MEET?
We meet on the first Wednesday of the month but this can vary due to public/school holidays. We meet at different venues but usually somewhere private for a tea/coffee or we might have a guest speaker and have an invite somewhere or go on a trip. Please contact Joanne for more information.
